Saint Julius – Saint Of The Week

Saint Julius

Feast: 12th April

Saint Julius was Pope of the Catholic Church in year 337. The papacy had been vacant for some time between St Mark and St Julius. Therefore the Arians were causing trouble to say the least. Julius was elected after suffering in exile under the rein of the Arianizing policy, this is debated in history though.

He soughed debates between the Arians and Eusebius and he convened a synod in Rome. Julius built several basilicas and churches in Rome during his papacy.

Julius was responsible for making the birth of Christ significant on two days of the Churches calendar (nativity and epiphany).

St Julius, pray for us
