Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks, is inspired by untold story of Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins”. If you loved Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins, then you will thoroughly enjoy this behind the scenes look.

It begins when Walt Disney’s daughters beg him to make a movie of their favorite book,  “Mary Poppins”. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a rigid and stubborn writer who has no intentions of letting her magical nanny just get turned into another character in Hollywood.

Inspired by true events, there is something enjoyably strange about Saving Mr. Banks, and its gallery of unusual characters.  It is a lot of fun watching how the songs developed for Mary Poppins, and the way in which it all came to be was enlightening. This moving yet animated film is textured with warmth, humanity, and even a touch of sadness.

Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson give 5 star performances and the supporting cast play their roles brilliantly.

As far as family entertainment goes, there’s very little to fault with this rather delightful and moving picture. A lovely movie for the whole family to enjoy.
