Bunting is a cute and simple way to rejuvenate a room and it is pretty easy to make and a great beginner sewing project.
What you need for DIY bunting:
- Fabric in assorted colours/designs
- 3m bias binding in coordinating colour
- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Pins
- Scissors
- Template below
What to do:
Use template to cut out flag shapes.
For each flag you will need 2 triangles. That means for this tutorial you will need to cut 32 triangles to make 16 flags.
Pin matching pairs of fabric right sides together.
Sew (or overlock) along the two long sides.
Turn right side out and press into shape.
Organise flags into the desired order.
Measure the halfway point of your bias binding and pin your first flag so that it is on the right hand side of the middle most point.
Continue to pin flags, working from the centre outwards until all pinned.
Sew along bias binding to attach the flags. Fold bias binding over and pin in place.
Machine sew from end to end of bias binding to finish off bunting and doubly secure flags.
