Feast Day: 3rd January
St Genevieve was a saint of great charity, constant prayer and austerity.
As a child St Genevieve was singled out in a large crowd gathered around a “man of God” which foretold her future. She was a consecrated virgin and continued her life of prayer. There was a time in her life where the city of Paris was being invaded by outsiders. St Genevieve persuaded all the inhabitants of Paris to not evacuate and to persuaded them to fast and pray for their city. The persistent prayer and fasting was pleasing to God and the army did not invade Paris in the end.
St Genevieve lived a life of charity and great faith. A great Saint to become familiar with; for yourself, your family and strength in fasting and persistent prayer.
I was told by a priest once, that begging and persistence, with the overall submission to God’s will, in prayer is a great skill to have. We can foster these skills and look to the example of St Genevieve and learn to trust the power of prayer and the will of God.
