Saint Valentine
Feast: February 14th
Patron: Love, Young Families and Marriages
We all know St Valentine’s feast day is February 14th, but did you know that he with his family were involved with the martyrs whom were being condemned and persecuted for their faith?
St Valentine was a Priest in Rome. He was imprisoned at one point due to marrying Christian couples, which was no allowed through this time. Whilst in prison he tried to convert many people, he attempted to convert Emperor Claudius though was unsuccessful. The emperor told Saint Valentine to renounce his faith, although he stood strong in God’s strength and courage and did not renounce. For this he was clubbed and beheaded outside the Flaminian gate.
There is not much knowledge of Saint Valentines life, although his faith, commitment to God and humility is shown through his works.
We ask him now to pray for us, for our marriages, for our families and for the gift of love and charity so that we may show this faithfully to others. Saint Valentine, Pray for us.
