Saint Blaise – Saint Of The Week

Saint Blaise

 Feast: February 3

 Patronage: Throat Illnesses

Saint Blaise was a bishop of Sebastea, Armenia. He was raise Christian and born into a rich and noble family. We don’t know too much about St Blaise,  apart from that he was a martyr of the faith.

It was said that he saved a young boy from choking and healed him. Legend says that he received a message from God to escape persecution and go to the hills, Blaise hid in a cave and cured ill animals. Hunters found Blaise eventually and carried him off to be imprisoned and killed. Along the way Blaise helped a women who lost her pig to the wolves.  In return she would later sneak food into the prison which kept Blaise captive.

Blaise was finally killed by the governor for being a bishop.

Saint Blaise, pray for us that we may not suffer from illnesses of the throat and pray that all who are suffering be healed by God’s love. Amen (1)

Saint Blaise,  pray for us
