Young Catholic Mums is all about supporting mums. And celebrating Mother’s Day is a great way to make the mums in our own lives feel special and appreciated.
But this year we’re inviting you to look outside your usual Mother’s Day plans and join with our mums in your area to celebrate your vocation, and theirs! And to help spread our YCM Village initiative (read more here about the initiative and here to start your own) even further!
Host A YCM Morning Tea
Mother’s Day is traditionally celebrated in Australia on the second Sunday in May. This is very fitting because May is also the month of Mary. This year, extend your celebrations to another day in May and invite other mums to join you for a YCM Mother’s Day Morning Tea.
If you already have a mums group in your area you can schedule another meeting and invite other mothers to join you for a cuppa and a chat.
If you don’t already have a mums group in your area, organising a morning tea to celebrate Mother’s Day might just be the springboard you need to establish something regularly.
Keep It Simple
Because this initiative is all about supporting mums and inviting them to become part of the YCM network there’s no need to go over the top with your preparations or feel like this is a daunting task. If you follow these steps you’ll get the morning tea organised simply and even enjoy it!
- Book a venue – Parish halls are a great option, especially if the weather is dicey otherwise a park is a great venue
- Advertise – use Facebook, Parish bulletins and most importantly Word of Mouth invitations to spread the message. And don’t forget to advertise on YCM!
- Organise tea, coffee and milk supplies and any other supplies like cups or serviettes.
- Ask everyone to bring something to share.
- Clipboard – bring some paper and a pen and ask mums to share their contact details if they’re interested in meeting regularly.
If we work together, we can establish a great, supportive networks of mums all over Australia (and the world) and continue to delight in the vocation we’ve all been called to!
