Make A Prayer Intention Canvas

IMG_2991

We are often asked to pray for special intentions and I felt as sincerely as I promised to pray for these intentions I may have forgotten a few from time to time. In order to keep track of them I started pinning small pieces of coloured paper to a cork board/white board that I used to organise our week. Now however, I need the corkboard to store things like school newsletters and notes which means I have an excuse for a craft project!

Here is a simple and cheap way to create a visual reminder of the prayer intentions that you and your family are taking on.

You will need:

  • A canvas, any size will do but I have used a 45cm square
  • Ribbon
  • Small pegs
  • Chipboard letters (or acrylic paint)
  • A D hook or command strips to hang your canvas
  • Craft glue, scissors and a screwdriver

What to do:

Start by measuring your ribbon to fit the width of your canvas. Cut three strips and lay them across your canvas. IMG_2985

Place your pegs in their positions, pegging them onto the ribbon. Adhere to canvas by gluing the underside of the ribbon as well as the underside of the pegs.

Adhere your chipboard letters to the top (or use acrylic paint to write the word PRAY yourself) and allow to dry.

Turn over your canvas to affix a D hook using a screwdriver (or attach command strips instead) and hang on the wall.

Post it notes are the perfect size to write on your prayer intentions and you could even set up a nearby prayer intention station with a post it note pad and a pen handy.

Option: for a vintage take on this craft cover your canvas in a muted floral print, use lace instead of ribbon and plain wooden pegs instead of coloured ones.

  1. My family have just seen the movie “War Room” a fantastic Christian movie promoting the power of prayer, especially for marriages. It is produced by the people who made “Fireproof” and “Courageous” among others and it is by far their best one yet.

This prayer intention canvas fits in perfectly with the movie! I strongly urge everyone to get to this movie. My husband loved it! We are catholic and one of the highlights in the movie is when they pray for Christian unity. Hurry though, before it is finished at the cinemas.
