St Maximilian was a soldier who became a martyr for Christ. Make your own shield to show that you are part of the Church militant – soldiers for Christ!
What you’ll need:
- Cardboard
- Shield template
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencils/textas/paint
- Or coloured paper
What to do:
Print out template (which can be found at the bottom of this post). We have added a small cross to the template but your children might prefer to design their own shield.
Cut out template and use to trace the shield onto two sheets of coloured paper.
Cut out.
Fold one sheet of paper in half and cut away the inside so that you have made a border for the outside of the shield.
Use the remaining paper to cut out your cross.
Glue in place.
Once the shields are decorated cut them out and adhere them to the cardboard.
Cut a strip of elastic and affix to the back so that your children can wear it like a real shield.
I used a stapler to attach the elastic and I recommend covering the staples with some tape because they can be sharp.
