Lent Week 4: Cooked With Love

Cooking is part and parcel of being a homemaker. Sometimes in life however, things can get on top of us and the gift of a home cooked meal is a welcome one. The old adage remains true about food cooked with love! The simple act of cooking a meal for some one else is a beautiful act of service and one that is often appreciated more than a material gift or bunch of flowers. Practical help for a new mum who hasn’t the energy to cook, or bereaved family and friends who are struggling to put one foot in front of the other in their time of grief, is never unappreciated.

Almsgiving challenge: Make and personally deliver a meal to a person in need: a new mum, a bereaved family or an elderly neighbour.

  1. Thank you for this. This is our first Lent as we go through RCIA and CCD as a family. Every tip for how to make this a more meaningful time, especially while we are all on lockdown with the virus, is appreciated. Our neighbor is under quarantine and a home cooked meal is the perfect way to show our love. Thank you.

    1. You are so welcome! I’ve no doubt your neighbor will be so grateful. It sounds like you and your family are making this Lent count. May God bless all of you this Lent, and as you continue on your spiritual journey at Easter and beyond!
