Hot cross buns have been a large part of our Lenten traditions at my house. On days of fasting and abstinence hot cross buns are a great breakfast or lunch alternative and are delicious toasted. They are relatively easy to make and remind us visually about the Cross of Christ.
This week’s activity is to make your own hot cross buns!
The recipe I use is very similar to this one here and turns out well every time.
If you adhere to a Gluten free diet try replacing the flour for Gluten free flour and add a dash of baking powder to the mix.
And if your kids are like mine, they will take great pleasure in piping those crosses on top!
