If I am to get to Heaven I must daily pick up my cross
Destined for eternity; I can fear no earthly loss.
If I am to get to Heaven I must travel the narrow way;
Toil and hardship the redemptive toll that I must pay.
If I am to get to Heaven and partake in the sublime
I cannot clutch to worldly goods, tainted wealth and fickle dimes.
If I am to get to Heaven I must trade the earthly blows,
For the promise of redemption; the desolating woes.
If I am to get to Heaven I must nurture in my midst,
Who God has joined by vocation; and crowned jewels He willed exist.
If I am to get to Heaven; sanctification my aim alone
A domestic church must needs to guide; souls far from grown.
If I am to get to Heaven my children must bloom in Godly virtue,
Pollenating not them alone, but my sinful nature too.
If I am to get to Heaven, I achieve it not of my accord;
Instead I resign my will to that of my everlasting Lord.
