The final school term of the year is drawing to a close and, if you’re like me, you’re only now starting to think about a small gift to give to your child’s teacher. This year I decided to make something that was economical – because we all know that at this time of year as Christmas approaches, money can be tight – but also personalised and simple. Because my eldest two children attend a Catholic school I thought it would be a nice idea to design a prayer card for their teachers, one that could be printed on photo paper and framed, and also one that could be printed in a smaller size and laminated for the Dominican Sisters who teach them religion. There are several prayers out there but I eventually decided on this one:
Lord, please bless my students
And help them as they grow
May I teach them faithfully
The things they need to know.
So they may face the future
Knowing they’re prepared,
And when they think of school days,
May they know their teacher cared.

I designed the images to a standard 6×4 photo and printed them at home on photo paper, cut them to size and popped them into some inexpensive frames with a matt border. Despite the simpleness of the exercise I am more than happy with the finished product!
The designs are available here below (for free) as a high resolution JPEG file you can download and take into a store like Big W, Harvey Norman or Officeworks and print, or you can print at home on photo paper. There are four different designs so hopefully you’ll find one that suits your child’s teacher. Then all you need to do is purchase a nice frame and this year’s teacher’s gift is all sorted! Alternatively, you can print them out smaller, like a prayer card and laminate them! And if you’re a home schooling mum, pass this post onto hubby or a computer savvy child and you can enjoy it too!
