Here is a little tutorial on how to make a simple fairy door for your children’s play. This is just a bit of fun for the kids and encourages them to have a great imagination! I like to pretend that the fairies walk in and out of the door when no ones looking!
You can attach these little doors to your walls, on a bookshelf or some little secretive place in your child’s room.
Materials:
- Cardboard
- Kitchen scissors or knife
- Bold black marker
- Double sided tape
- Strong glue
- Small pebbles, leaves and sticks
- A fairy figurine
Step 1: You will need a piece of cardboard approximately 15cm x 20cm. Draw a black boarder with a marker in the shape of a door.
Step 2: Cut around 3 of the sides (not the side where the hinges of the door are supposed to be)
Step 3: Print out a forest backdrop or you can draw your own backdrop and colour it in. Attach it to the inside frame of the cardboard from behind, using double sided tape.
Step 4: Glue along the borders of the door frame using fairly strong glue (I used ‘all-purpose Bostick extra strong glue’). Attach leaves, small pebbles and sticks to the frame.
Step 5: Find a little fairy that you will use who will sometimes appear around the door to surprise the kids!
Have fun!
