When I first started reading this book all I could say was ‘what a man!’ Knowing very little about the life of Karol Wojtyla, I was shocked and moved by the incredibly hard life he led from such a young age. Through all his trials his faith only grew deeper. I was struck by the incredible relationship he had with the Holy Spirit, the Virgin Mary and above all the impact he had on the people he encountered.
What I love about this book is not only did Evert capture some beautiful untold stories of the saint he also captured the essence of his five loves (Young People, Human Love, The Blessed Sacrament, The Virgin Mary, and The Cross). Evert goes quite deep, allowing the readers to get inside and to truly understand why John Paul had these five loves. In doing so he creates a road map for Catholic readers to deepen their faith and illustrates the necessity of these five being the loves of all Catholics today.
