Advent Activities: The Best Present EVER (Day 07)

Today’s activity is all about the best Christmas present of all time! You can use this activity as an opportunity to explain that the best Christmas present we will ever receive is that of Baby Jesus.

You’ll need:

  • Small plastic babies
  • Pen and ruler
  • Card
  • glue
  • scraps of white fabric

What to do:

Using the size of the plastic baby as a guide draw up a box template, you will need a box and a lid.

If you are making more than one box it is a good idea to copy your original picture and keep it for future use. Construct the box and the lid, glue or tape. Cut a small piece of white fabric (an old handkerchief would be perfect) and wrap around plastic baby, glue in place. Draw a small circle on card and colour yellow, and you can add glitter if you wish. Glue this to the underside of the baby’s head to act as a halo.

Place the Baby Jesus, now wrapped in swaddling clothes and complete with halo into the box and put on the lid. Tie the ribbon around the box as you would a present.

Place under your Christmas tree and invite your children to open their ‘best present ever’ before they open their presents on Christmas day.
