30 Minute Jeans To Shorts Makeover is a quick and simple way to transform an old pair of jeans into knee length cuffed shorts.
You will need:
- A pair of jeans
- Measuring tape
- Fabric (laundry) marker
- Scissors
- Sewing machine and/or overlocker
What to do:
Try on your jeans and mark on the seam the length you want your shorts to be. Measure from hem and follow natural curve of hem to create a line around the leg on both sides. Cut with scissors but don’t discard off cut denim. These will form the basis of the shorts.
Measure 5 inch from cut edge on the off cut (the bottom part of the jeans you don’t need) in the same way as above and cut. Repeat for other leg.
Pin this 5 inch strip right side together and sew along cut edge. This will be the cuff.
Pin the cuff to the inside of the shorts, lining up hems.
Sew along edges with straight stitching and follow with a zig-zag stitch to finish raw edges. Otherwise you can just use your overlocker for this step.
Turn cuff out to desired position on the shorts and press.
They are now ready to wear!
